Solemn Profession Joy ...

The Carmelite family was able to celebrate with great joy the Solemn Profession of vows of their brother Ged Walsh. The Mass of Profession was attended by Carmelite Friars from Britain, Ireland and Indonesia. Ged's family and friends gathered from Britain and Ireland. The Authumn weather was cold, but the warmth and joy in the Relic Chapel was palpable.

The congregation prepared for the Mass with the gentle chant of Nada te turbe (Nothing can trouble)
before rising to the gathering hymn - All are welcome

Br. Ged lies prostrate before the altar as the Litsny of the Saints is chanted

Fr. Damian intoning the Litany of the Saints, asking the whole host of heaven
to intercede for our brother Ged and the whole Church.

Br. Ged places his hands in those of the Prior Provincial as he
makes his Solemn Profession. Br David Twohig, a classmate from Dublin, looks on.

The brothers share in Br. Ged's joy

The Carmelite friars and the Walsh family - they haven't lost a son
they have gained two thousand!

Br. Ged is part of the Yotk Carmelite Community and will continue to work alongside his brother friars in the University and Hospital Chaplaincies. We wish him many long years of service in Carmel and every joy and blessing.
